PETER GRIMES - Live from La Scala

Thursday 24th May 7.00pm

Tickets £17.50; Movie Deal £32.45

Building on the success of Death in Venice last season, Benjamin Britten’s most popular opera comes to La Scala for the 2011/2012 season. Performed on only two previous occasions at La Scala (1975 and 2000), the opera will be presented for the first time in a new production by English director Richard Jones. John Graham-Hall stars as impetuous fisherman Peter Grimes in this mysterious tale set in a small fishing village on England’s east coast in the first half of the nineteenth century. The unfeasibly young Robin Ticciati, principal conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, takes the helm in his La Scala opera debut. Sung in English.
