London-based alto saxophonist Sam Braysher is currently touring to promote his new album, a swinging look at the songs of German-American composer Kurt Weill. A regular performer at jazz clubs across Europe, Sam has received international acclaim for his warm, delicate sound and deep knowledge of the standard repertoire and American Songbook.

His trio here features the award-winning Scottish double bassist Andrew Robb and Alyn Cosker, resident drummer with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra. Expect to hear classic songs and hidden gems by Kurt Weill - the composer of “Mack The Knife”, “My Ship” and “September Song” - in addition to fresh arrangements of music by the likes of Antonio Carlos Jobim, George Gershwin and Rodgers & Hammerstein.

Previously, Sam received widespread praise for the two albums released under his own name, both of which feature renowned international collaborators. Golden Earrings, with American pianist Michael Kanan, was described as “delightful and surprising” by Dave Gelly in the Observer, while his recent trio album with Jorge Rossy (Brad Mehldau Trio) and Tom Farmer, was praised in Jazzwise as “a triumph of intelligence and sentiment”.
